In England, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms screening (AAA) is offered to all men in the year they turn 65. Men aged 65 or over are more at risk of developing an AAA.
Screening can help spot a swelling in the aorta early when it can usually be treated.
Aneurysms do not cause any pain or symptoms, so you would not know if you had one. As they get larger, they are at risk of bursting (rupturing) which is classed as a medical emergency and can be deadly.
